Frequently Asked Questions

  • In order to best accommodate our clients, we offer several appointment types:

    • Standard on-site

    • HIPAA compliant video

    • Telephone

    • Home/Independent Living Facility/Nursing home

New patient appointments and acute care appointments will need to take place on-site, as an examination and possible treatments will need to be performed. Follow-up appointments may take place via Skype or phone.

    • A history, physical exam, and laboratory testing may be performed during a new patient appointment.

    • If medical records are available for review in advance by Dr. Porter, therapy may be initiated during the first appointment based on these medical records.

    • Each patient is typically given a follow up appointment 1-4 weeks later in order to allow for test results to return.

  • Click our PORTAL link in the main menu in order to register and pick your appointment type/date, or call us at 941-666-8757.

  • If you need to cancel your appointment, we require 24 hours notice or there will be a missed appointment fee of $75 charged for your allotted scheduled time.

  • At Whole Health we take an exhaustive look at your whole being, not just one aspect of your health. Because of the nature of integrative/holistic medicine and limitations of medical insurance, we do not accept insurance for office visits.

We do not accept insurance for any of the services provided at Whole Health.

At the end of your visit, our office will provide a superbill for your use in submitting claims for insurance reimbursement. Some insurance companies may reimburse you at an out of network rate, but this is not a guarantee of coverage. We recommend you contact your insurance company and ask further questions.

Per Medicare guidelines, the following exclusions apply to covered physician services:

"Services or supplies related to alternative or complementary medicine. Services in this category include, but are not limited to, acupuncture, holistic medicine, homeopathy, hypnoaroma therapy, massage and massage therapy, reiki therapy, herbal, vitamin or dietary products or therapy."

We will keep your insurance information on file so that you may use your insurance for any laboratory testing, imaging, and referrals. If you are self pay, we have negotiated specialty rates for laboratory testing and numerous diagnostic tests in order to best serve you.

    • We charge based on time and the type of visit chosen (on-site, Skype, telephone, weekend, or bundle).
